April Haynes and Joseph Wunderlick

How We Met

April had been working at Anthony Travel for about a year when she learned that the marketing department had hired a new coordinator…a handsome young fellow named Joe Wunderlick, who would be starting on August 13, 2007.  Unfortunately, April was out of the office that day, as she was driving her cousin, Lauren, from Florida to Texas.  Somewhere along Interstate 10, April received a text from a co-worker confirming that the new guy (who she had googled upon learning his name the week before), was indeed “pretty cute”.   April returned to work the next day, and Joe came over and introduced himself…and the rest was history.

They sat only a few yards away for the first couple of months, until upper management decided to rearrange the office and Joe was moved out of April’s sight.  However, absence truly makes the heart grow fonder, and the romance continued to blossom.  After several lunch and happy hour “dates” arranged by co-workers (to Mi Cocina, ironically…), April and Joe finally had their first official date on January 1, 2008, when Joe picked up April at DFW after a weeklong trip to Phoenix and took her to dinner at Mi Cocina.  And who was there but Joe’s family! So technically, she “met the family” on their first date!  From then on, Mi Cocina became their official date night spot.
